I
With Grace!
Kindermusik educator Grace Zubrod grew up surrounded by and involved with the making of music, instilling in her a deep love for musical expression. From choral groups to playing piano to playing in the band, music was an essential element of growing up, and as an adult, Grace has been actively involved in church music performance through voice and piano. Grace has also spent her whole adult life working with and teaching children, including the economically disadvantaged and children of other ethnicities, both in the U.S. and abroad. Graduating from Messiah College with a B.A. in Sociology, Grace worked as a social worker in the inner city, before moving to the Middle East where she began her teaching career. She holds a California elementary education teaching credential, and currently enjoys her time as a stay-at-home mom with her daughter and son while she pursues teaching Kindermusik part-time. Her love for music, children, and teaching, and the experience of each in other cultures, come together in her Kindermusik classes where children, together with their parents, experience high quality instruction and the joy of music in this developmentally designed program.
Grace started teaching Kindermusik in 2005 in Escondido, California. She has recently moved to York County from California and is excited to continue making music with children and families back in Central Pennsylvania. It is Grace's joy to help bring music into the home and lay the foundation for a lifetime love of music and learning.
Kindermusik educator Andrea Thompson grew up in a family of music lovers and music makers. From listening to her elder family members sing hymns and play guitar to being the only child member of the adult choir at her church growing up, music played a key role in her childhood. She was actively involved in her school choir and church youth and adult choirs through high school and went on to lead small bible study groups in college where singing and music-making were a key part of worship.
Andrea earned a degree in Human Development – Early Childhood Education from Virginia Tech and a Master’s degree in Elementary Education from Duquesne University. She is also a certified Reading Specialist who has found Kindermusik to offer so many benefits for early reading skills. As a preschool and transitional kindergarten teacher, she was able to use music to teach children in unique and engaging ways. She continued the use of music, rhythm and rhyming while teaching elementary school grades 3, 4, and 5. In addition to teaching at the elementary level, she spent evenings and weekends over the past 3 years teaching Kindermusik where she found that her true passions of teaching young children and music beautifully came together.
Currently Andrea enjoys being a stay-at-home mom with her two young sons while teaching Kindermusik part-time. Having a lot of experience with infants and children of all ages, she is passionate about sharing the value of Kindermusik with as many young families as possible. It is with great enthusiasm that she seeks to enrich the lives of her families by bringing the joy of music and all that it has to offer through high-quality Kindermusik classes.
Andrea started teaching in 2008 for Kathy’s Music, LLC in Pittsburgh, PA and recently moved to York County. She is thrilled to have the opportunity to share her love of music with families in the York area and is grateful for the ability to join Grace’s program.
